Jim Miller’s Christmas Mixes are now on Spotify

Merry Christmas from Jim Miller!  I’ve been holding out on you.  I have been creating an annual Christmas CD every year since 2002.  I have known for years that someday CD’s would be outdated. Most new cars do not have a CD player.  Imagine my shock in 2021 when the cost to mail a CD went from about a dollar to $4.30 per CD.  My daughter Megan to the rescue.  She put the 2021 Christmas Mix on Spotify; it took her about 5 minutes.  Spotify is a free app you can download on your phone.  The free version includes occasional advertisements.  The key is to click the button that says “PLAY ON SPOTIFY” for each mix you select.  Old people like me are often baffled by technology, so If you need more technical guidance to use Spotify in your phone, computer, car, tablet or on your TV, don’t ask me; consult a millennial (seriously)… they’ll get you going in a few minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where do you find Christmas songs?

Starting in 2002, I shopped for used Christmas CD’s on eBay.  Around 2005, I discovered iTunes and spent hours searching high and low for great Christmas music.  And now with Spotify, they give you suggestions of songs like the ones on your playlist.  I discovered a lot of songs on the 2022 mix with this Spotify feature.  Also, if I hear a song I like, on my iPhone, I ask Siri to name that tune; she tells me the name of the song and the artist.  Consult a millennial if your phone is an Android.

How have your annual mixes evolved over the years?

The first year 2002, I included multiple songs from the same artist. But once I made this an annual tradition, I only select one song per artist for each annual mix.  Here is what I am aiming for:  If you only have one annual Christmas mix, you will have a good well-rounded variety of contemporary Christmas music.  I typically start with upbeat songs and end with ballads.  Mixes from the 2000’s are mostly Christian artists and no hint of Santa.  I have evolved quite a bit; the 2022 mix includes a romantic song I love by Keith Urban called “I’ll Be Your Santa Tonight.”

What is your favorite mix?

That easy; it’s the Christmas Worship Mix.  Many in my audience prefer upbeat songs.  If that is you, then try the Christmas Party Mix.  But for me, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, and nothing gets me in the mood for Christmas more than this mix.  The first 20 songs on this long mix contain my favorite Christmas songs of all time.

How long do you plan to assemble a new annual mix of Christmas songs?

Every year until God calls me home.  A good day for me is when I discover a new Christmas song for next year’s mix.  I hope my daughters will remember to pay the annual fee to keep the website alive for a few more generations.

It takes a village to understand technology.  If you are a millennial with writing skills, then write up a brief Spotify tutorial I can share with my Christmas music fans.  Include how to save playlists, how to search for playlists without the links on this page, how to connect to other devices besides your phone.

Do I have other mixes besides Christmas Music?  You bet, how about this megamix of Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) classics going as far back as the early 1980’s including a ton of Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, and Sandi Patti, Bryan Duncan, Leslie Phillips, Joy Williams, Kim Hill, and so much more.  This evolving mix is currently 31 hours of music.  The key with mix is to use Spotify’s “shuffle” feature so you won’t hear the same artist over and over.

Want more?  I have several playlists depending on your mood, country, acapella, 80’s, etc.  Text or email me.
